The Challenge

A diversified financial services company with tens of billions in assets, over a million customers, and more than a thousand employees, our client relied heavily on its website to get the right information to the right people, and present it in way that was clear, concise, and builds trust.

Besides needing to redesign its website, our client wanted to reduce the amount of effort required to create, review, and publish product documentation online. Given the number of products in its portfolio, and the inter-departmental collaboration and regulatory review required to create content, the ongoing effort to maintain product documentation was extensive.

Our Approach

Our client's program owners and business analysts worked with Slalom's portal and development teams to create both the experience, and the platform needed to achieve this vision. Slalom worked with the client to develop a readiness program, an ECM intranet portal that would feed the client’s .com site, and a comprehensive development/build process.

After initially collaborating with the interactive agency, POP, on the overall design, Slalom created a defined set of deliverables that would be built through a set of iterations throughout the project. Using an agile system development life cycle process, the goal was to have a variety of features defined for each iteration, which would eventually go through user acceptance testing.

The Results

Success milestones for this project included:

  • Empowering content owners to understand how they could manage the information they want to share with the public
  • Creating the ability of the client’s users to easily publish content to the web
  • Internal users can now easily publish and target content to defined personas
  • Stakeholders have improved access to resources that help them match customer to solutions
