While working within the IT department of a U.S. major energy producer, Slalom observed that certain project management processes could benefit from improved methodology and execution. Slalom looked at IT project delivery and execution and identified ways to make its PMO more efficient by going beyond project status or percentage complete.
After identifying trouble areas, Slalom catalogued system and PMO issues, such as risk management, scheduling resources, and scope control. Partnering with company stakeholders, Slalom looked at the current project delivery practices and methodologies to develop tools and processes to diagnose key areas of execution. This allowed the client to tailor specific actions to address weaknesses and opportunities within its business.
Focusing on key delivery categories, and drawing on past experience and practice research, Slalom also shed light on ways to improve the health and execution of projects and their timelines.
