SonoSite

The Challenge

SonoSite is the world leader in point-of-care ultrasound devices, with $227.4 million in 2009 sales and over 700 employees. The company wanted to strengthen its image as an innovator, while identifying and connecting with a new tech-savvy generation of medical professionals – all in time for a major sales meeting only weeks away. As part of the effort, SonoSite also wanted to develop a repository for its content that was highly available and compatible with multiple platforms while providing a roadmap for future iterations of the solution.

Our Approach

Using input from executives and stakeholders, Slalom defined a "pull" strategy in order to attract a broader audience. At the heart of that strategy was a sales application able to deliver streaming educational videos to SonoSite customers and prospects via their iPhone or iPod Touch. The videos would offer expert guidance on ultrasound technique, video case studies, a gallery of clinical imagery, and even a reimbursement guide. Application deployment would be managed using the iTunes AppStore.

The Results

Completed in eight weeks for the North American Sales Summit, SonoAccess has made significant inroads with doctors while providing valuable user data. The app has also proven to be such a successful sales tool that the CIO authorized migrating the entire SonoSite sales force to iPhones to enable them to demo the application to their prospects.
