The Challenge

Pacific Market International (PMI) sought to position itself for future organizational and system changes with a new management reporting platform that was sustainable, long-lived, scalable, and aligned with its long-term strategy. This designer and manufacturer of Stanley and Aladdin food and beverage products, with 155 employees, needed to resolve data inconsistencies across a distributed reporting environment while providing standard, automated views of business performance, as well as customized reports for individual business users—and all within a 16-week time frame.

Our Approach

Slalom Consulting proposed a Microsoft-based business intelligence solution that would:

  • Extract and centralize data in a SQL Server database
  • Deploy analysis services and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 
  • Staff and manage all aspects of application development
  • Conduct user training and offer post-deployment user support

The Results

The deployed technology achieved its goal of providing a consolidated worldwide view of PMI business data, including detailed visibility into the sales channel, and more accurate, reliable data overall. In addition, the solution has successfully automated data extraction and application of business rules, established a consistent product hierarchy, and created a truly ad-hoc, self-service environment that helps executives make better decisions faster.
