My professional one-two punch
For years I struggled and faced obstacles both professional and financially. I had little optimism for my career until I enrolled in the Slalom Salesforce Academy. I felt like I was met right where I was in my experience with Salesforce—which was elementary—and I had 24 other comrades learning alongside me.
It was powerful to share career, even life-changing experiences with this group. Now, as I start to approach my client work, I regularly tap into the technical foundation the Academy provided me. Most importantly, I am more excited about my life and my career than I have ever been before.
I feel I finally have a path in front of me that will challenge and inspire me.

Year of intention led to my calling
In early 2019, I made the decision to have a “Year of Intention.” I felt pigeon-holed with my professional experience in social services, and I focused on making a change in my career. The Salesforce platform became the thread I pulled on to bring me to another path. I had the opportunity to participate in Slalom’s Salesforce Academy which gave me the technical foundation as well as the confidence to be successful on the Salesforce platform and in the tech world full-time.
I graduated the Academy in early 2020 and immediately joined Slalom’s run:CRM team. The knowledge I gained and the connections I forged through the experience are evidence of the investment Slalom makes to see that every team is set up to love their future and make a lasting, positive impact in our communities. I feel I finally have a path in front of me that will challenge and inspire me.
Since graduating, I have felt energy, empowerment, and excitement about my work, my life, and my future more than I’ve ever experienced before.

From burned out to on fire
When I changed careers from burned out healthcare professional to aspiring software engineer, it was a daunting and exhausting pursuit. I was a high performer in my previous career and pressing the reset button to enter the technology workforce as a novice made me doubt myself on more than one occasion. When I discovered that Slalom offered the Salesforce Academy to hone my skills with training and support, I pursued it full force.
Since graduating, I have felt energy, empowerment, and excitement about my work, my life, and my future more than I’ve ever experienced before. I credit it to the meaningful work I do, and meaningful relationships I’ve crafted with the people I work for, and with, here at Slalom.
