Slalom achieves AWS Security Competency status

Seattle, WA – February 4, 2021 – Slalom, the modern consulting firm focused on strategy, technology, and business transformation, today announced that it has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security Competency status. This is Slalom’s 14th AWS competency. The designation recognizes that Slalom has demonstrated end-to-end cloud security and operational efficiency capabilities that help customers achieve their cloud security goals.

“Like it is for AWS, security is a ‘Day Zero’ mindset for Slalom,” said Dave Cutler, general manager of Slalom’s global AWS team. “Earning the AWS Security Competency showcases the maturity of Slalom’s security capabilities, the technical rigor of our AWS consultants, and our commitment to challenging ourselves and innovating for our customers. Our people strive not only to keep up with the ever-changing cloud security landscape, but also to continuously push the state of the art with AWS and its partners in creating secure cloud infrastructures and applications for our customers.”

To support the seamless integration and deployment of cloud solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify consulting and technology partners in the AWS Partner Network (APN) with exceptional industry experience and expertise. In 2020, Slalom earned five new AWS competencies including Software-as-a-Service, Healthcare, Travel & Hospitality, Digital Customer Experience, and Security at the end of the year.

Ensuring a digital product’s security is as important as ensuring its usability. Slalom shifts security “to the left” and focuses on security during all stages of project development, including conducting threat modeling, risk assessments, and automated code and application scanning. This enables Slalom and its clients to find and remediate security issues early in the development lifecycle. Slalom’s approach leverages early exposure to new cloud services and an understanding of unique threats across industries, along with knowledge of industry standards and recommendations from the National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST), Open Web Application Security Project® (OWASP), Cloud Security Alliance(CSA), and Center for Internet Security (CIS).

“With AWS, security is every single person’s responsibility, and obtaining the AWS Security Competency proves that Slalom consultants embody this for our customers across our AWS engagements,” said Corcoran Smith, a solution architect at Slalom. “In a cloud-first world, we are now able to clearly demonstrate our security expertise as we delight new and existing customers in sectors like financial services, government, and healthcare, which all have unique and stringent security requirements for their cloud adoption journeys.”
