Paul Shultz, general manager of Slalom's South region, shares why launching a collaborative region in the South was a no-brainer.

I’ve always believed that passionately engaged people power the engines of the world—business engines, service engines, social engines, family engines. I also believe companies are living organisms, and that if people had their way, they’d love their work and lives. It’s rare, but when they do, organizations look, feel, and perform amazingly.

Our people at Slalom demonstrate our values every day. They’re examples of people that are passionately engaged in their work and lives. Our clients and communities see how different we show up, and we can tell they admire and sometimes envy our folks for this. It’s contagious.
Making Slalom the most impactful place you could ever work—and helping everyone love their work and lives—really resonates with me. And with my new role as South region general manager comes the opportunity to lead with these values—and bring them to our clients.
Why the South region
To form our newest region, the South, we brought together our three largest southern markets—Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas/Ft. Worth—along with 14 states nearby. We’ve created a platform for each market to grow, expand our capabilities, operate better, learn from each other, collaborate on our investments and creations, and provide more opportunities for our people and clients. Bringing our teams closer together on a regular basis allows us to collaborate even more as we continue to grow. We share approaches, learnings, techniques, and successes.
We help our clients answer the following questions:
- How do I get closer to my customers? How do I retain them, grow them, and get them to be evangelists?
- How do I respond to the market quicker?
- Where do I find the talent I need to grow my business?
- How do I get my technology to be more of a revenue asset?

Slalom’s South region has huge potential and is loaded with outstanding capabilities and imaginative personalities. We’re focused on driving great results and unmatched work environments in our local southern markets. We’re all about collaborating together and lifting each other up. We focus on our people and clients. And, as always, there’s no unwanted travel for our employees. That is, and always will be, a staple of our Slalom model.
I’ve been around consulting all my life and hold two key values: Do the right thing always, and people matter most. I believe that if you take care of your people, they’ll take care of each other and your clients.
