Government

In 2026, government leaders aren’t just responding to disruption—they’re reinventing how they operate to deliver services that are more efficient, effective, and people-centered.

Government enters 2026 facing familiar pressures—shifts in federal funding, tax revenue, and rapid technology change. This year agencies are better equipped to respond. New C-suite roles focused on data, AI, and service experience, along with governance models and modern technology foundations, position government to move from reaction to reinvention.

Across mission areas, agencies are reimagining how they deliver: streamlining access to benefits in health and human services, advancing data modernization in transportation, and modernizing court operations to improve access to justice. Across mission areas, the focus is on delivering services that are not just more efficient, but more effective and easier to access for the people government serves.

Together, these shifts point toward a more interoperable public sector. The trends that follow illustrate how leaders can turn this readiness into action.

The disruption government experienced in 2025 is likely to continue. Government leaders can use this moment to simplify, clarify their mission, and connect people, policy, and technology, and they will come out of this period stronger.
