Slalom Achieves Cloud Financial Management and Cloud Governance Distinction in AWS Cloud Operations Competency

Seattle, WA – April 6, 2023 – Slalom, a purpose-led, global business and technology consulting company, announced today that it has achieved the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Operations Competency in the Cloud Governance and Cloud Financial Management categories. The new AWS Cloud Operations Competency allows customers to select validated AWS Partners who offer comprehensive solutions with an integrated approach across all five solution areas of Cloud Operations: Cloud Financial Management, Cloud Governance, Monitoring and Observability, Compliance and Auditing, and Operations Management. As an AWS Cloud Operations Competency Partner, Slalom has demonstrated expertise in helping customers build a strong and scalable foundation for their end-to-end Cloud Operations.

IT Operations are at the heart of every organization. It can be time-consuming and challenging for customers to determine the best way to set up their organization for operational excellence. Without the right model for operating at cloud scale, organizations can struggle to balance their needs for security, compliance, and operational safety with their responsibility to boost innovation, speed, and agility. Builders can run into inefficient and siloed application development, difficult deployments that result in errors, and downtime in mission-critical applications. Many of these issues are caused by customers focusing on one area of Cloud Operations over others, resulting in them missing the opportunity to generate a larger ROI during their digital transformation. AWS Cloud Operations Competency Partners have proven success in delivering solutions with customers that help them set up, build, migrate, and operate securely and efficiently with an integrated approach to Cloud Operations.

“Slalom has been privileged to support our customers at various points in their cloud adoption stories, from foundational governance and organizationally aligned answers to ‘why cloud?’ to post-migration optimization in areas like observability or cost management,” said Scott Hankinson, Director of Technology Enablement at Slalom. “When we learned that AWS was launching the AWS Cloud Operations Competency, we knew being included as a Launch Partner would help us highlight the benefits of these solutions for our customers around the world.”

The AWS Cloud Operations Competency recognizes AWS Partner Network (APN) members who have significant expertise in providing cross-functional guidance across the five solution areas of Cloud Operations. Slalom follows AWS best practices and has proven experience in Cloud Financial Management and Cloud Governance.

Earning our distinctions in Cloud Governance and Cloud Financial Management highlights Slalom’s ability and commitment to helping our customers leverage modern cloud best practices and AWS services to operate efficiently in the cloud, and in doing so, fully realize the value of AWS.

Cloud Governance: AWS Partners in this solution area have a proven track record of helping customers plan, build and manage hybrid cloud environments that are secure, scalable, and cost-efficient from the start. Customers can address potential threats, leverage best practices, and meet compliance requirements, even as customers integrate with other services and third-party tools. When customers set up an environment that is optimized for governance, they increase their productivity and operational efficiency. Slalom works alongside its customers to assess their cloud capability maturity across core pillars including strategy, finance, development, architecture, operations, and information security. Slalom teams have developed a foundational engagement that builds on the results of customers’ cloud maturity assessments and works to establish the processes, controls, automation, and skills that organizations need to govern, develop, and operate in the cloud. Slalom teams leverage templates to prescribe cloud principles and standards, design the cloud infrastructure scaffolding and environment blueprints leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) assets, help incorporate security and compliance into the toolchain, design an operating model, and stand up a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), creating a foundation upon which the cloud journey can safely continue.

Cloud Financial Management (CFM): AWS Partners in this solution area have a proven track record of helping customers plan for optimized cloud spend management from day one with services, tooling, and resources. Customers can organize and track cloud cost and usage, implement cost controls, plan better through budgeting and forecasts, and further improve cost efficiency with resource utilization and purchase strategy optimizations.

Slalom helps guide its customers to assess, design, and implement cloud spend management and optimization capabilities. Irrespective of where an organization is on their journey of CFM, Slalom brings expertise to establish clarity, accountability, and financial governance to truly realize the value of the cloud. Slalom teams take a three-phase approach to establishing CFM, first by developing a holistic cloud spend strategy, then by optimizing through the creation of infrastructure to gain visibility into cloud spend and execute cost-saving strategies, and finally by operationalizing CFM through data visualization, which makes cloud costs visible and predictable, empowering teams to make data-driven decisions for cloud value realization.

“Slalom is proud to achieve the AWS Cloud Operations Competency,” said Raph Casadei, Global Director of Business Advisory Services at Slalom. “Earning our distinctions in Cloud Governance and Cloud Financial Management highlights Slalom’s ability and commitment to helping our customers leverage modern cloud best practices and AWS services to operate efficiently in the cloud, and in doing so, fully realize the value of AWS.”

AWS is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify AWS Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.
